Leave room for an ordinary afternoon.
Heming Teahouse is a good choice when you want tea to be the activity itself. Order a drink, settle into your chair, and give the stop some breathing room.
A tightly scheduled twenty-minute visit leaves little opportunity to enjoy the part that makes a teahouse worthwhile: sitting still while the city carries on around you.
An hour feels like Chengdu. Twenty minutes feels like a stop.

Tea with a stronger sense of place.
Daqi occupies repurposed workshops of the Chengdu Lacquerware Factory near Kuanzhai Alley. Bamboo seating, a theatrical black-and-red interior, a stage and lacquerware displays give you more to explore between cups of tea.
A Xiyuecheng Tan Douhua snack counter inside the venue also makes Daqi an interesting option for combining tea, Chengdu snacks and an introduction to lacquerware in one stop.

THEATRICAL BANQUET
Shuyanfu · 蜀宴赋
Located at Dongjiao Memory, Shuyanfu draws on Han, Tang and Song cultural imagery within a former industrial setting. It is the option to investigate if you picture your evening as a theatrical banquet, with optional styling or photography depending on the booking.
HOTPOT + PERFORMANCE
Hongdingyan · 红鼎艳
Its defining combination is hotpot and cultural performance. Current booking options distinguish between different sessions and seating categories, so compare the actual meal and view rather than the headline price alone.

Dongjiao Memory occupies the former Hongguang Electron Tube Factory. Its red-brick industrial setting, railway features, shops and creative spaces make it an easy place to wander with a camera.
The familiar Chengdu wall can be one stop, but it need not be the whole visit. Daxitai Teahouse, 大戏台茶馆, opened here in May 2026, adding another reason to stay into the evening.

甜水面 · SWEET WATER NOODLES
Chewy, sweet, savoury, spicy.
Despite the English name, this is not a bowl of noodles in sweet water. Sweet water noodles are thick, chewy noodles dressed with a sweet, savoury and spicy sauce.
Dongzikou Zhang Lao’er Liangfen, 洞子口张老二凉粉, near Wenshu Monastery is an established place to look for the dish. Make it part of your Wenshu visit rather than crossing the city solely to tick off another restaurant.

Leave at least one meal unplanned.
A dinner show and a neighbourhood restaurant serve different purposes. Keep one lunch or dinner open and choose around your appetite.

Panda planning: reserve the appropriate entry session and bring the original identification used for your booking. Check the arrangements for your actual visit date rather than relying on a year-round opening time.

Three full days allow a balanced city introduction with pandas, a teahouse, local food and one evening performance. Add time for trips outside the city.
02 / Should I visit both Heming and Daqi?
Choose one for a short stay. Heming fits a park afternoon; Daqi adds a converted factory setting, lacquerware elements and a performance-oriented space.
03 / Is a Chengdu dinner show worth booking?
It can be a strong choice if you enjoy costumes, staging and a structured evening. If food is your main interest, compare the menu carefully.
04 / Can I enjoy a show without speaking Chinese?
Visual performances may still be enjoyable, but understanding dialogue and story details is separate. Confirm language support for the specific production.
05 / How do I make the itinerary feel less rushed?
Choose one teahouse and one main performance first. Build nearby food stops around them and leave time for sitting, eating and exploring.
