THE SCALE
The itinerary
was simple.
The scale was not.
The scale was not.
This was a four-day Chongqing journey for 26 guests from Vietnam —
24 adults and two children, travelling with one accompanying staff member.
The route itself was not unusually complicated.
What changed the experience was the size of the group.
Meeting points, rooming, meals, transport and daily timing
all needed to work for the group as one unit.
The aim was not to make a large group feel rigid.
It was to keep everyone moving together
while still allowing Chongqing to feel like a city
they were actually experiencing.
DAY ONE
Several versions of
Chongqing in one day.
After arriving from Ho Chi Minh City,
the group began with some of Chongqing’s most recognisable city experiences:
the People’s Great Hall, Liziba, Ciqikou Ancient Town,
Hongya Cave and Jiefangbei.
In the space of a single day,
Chongqing shifted from monumental architecture
to rail scenes, old streets and dense urban life after dark.
Chongqing rarely presents itself from one angle.
The city keeps changing around you.
ONE ROUTE · MANY PERSPECTIVES
A shared itinerary does not create identical memories.
Twenty-six people can follow the same route
and still experience the same city very differently.
Some guests remember the landmarks.
Some remember the older streets,
the food, the pandas, the night views
or simply the feeling of travelling together.
A successful group journey does not require everyone
to react to every place in the same way.
It needs enough variety for different people
to find something they enjoy without breaking the rhythm of the group.
DAY TWO
A more modern
side of the city.
The second day included Chongqing Panda Park,
Chongqing East Railway Station,
a rail journey through the city
and Tanzishi Old Street.
Instead of focusing only on the postcard version of Chongqing,
the group also experienced newer transport infrastructure
and the everyday movement of the city.
That combination gave the journey more range:
pandas and old streets,
but also stations, trains
and a city continuing to grow around them.
DAY THREE
By the third day,
Chongqing felt closer.
Shancheng Lane, Kuixinglou and Daijiaxiang
brought the journey down to street level.
This is where Chongqing becomes more physical:
stairs, slopes, alleys, elevated buildings
and unexpected viewpoints make ordinary movement
feel different from most Chinese cities.
The city was no longer just something the group was looking at.
They were moving through it.
BEHIND THE JOURNEY
For a group this size,
the invisible parts matter.
Moving together
A 30-seat air-conditioned coach
kept the group travelling as one unit
throughout the main programme.
One daily rhythm
Accommodation, meals, sightseeing
and meeting times needed to work
for the group rather than for individual travellers.
Different travel dates
Four guests arrived one day earlier
and left one day later,
requiring additional hotel arrangements
outside the main group schedule.
DAILY RHYTHM
A group journey
also happens around the table.
Meals were arranged as part of the daily programme,
giving the group a natural pause
between sightseeing and travel.
For a group of twenty-six,
these quieter moments mattered too.
They gave everyone time to sit down together
before the city pulled them back into motion.
ONE CITY · MANY MEMORIES
The itinerary was shared.
The memories were personal.
Group travel is often described as one experience,
but it never really is.
Twenty-six travellers moved through the same city
and followed the same route,
yet each person carried away
a slightly different version of Chongqing.
THE FINAL DAY
One last look
at the city.
On the final day,
the group visited Xiahaoli and Shibati
before spending time at Sasseur Outlet
and continuing to the airport
for the return flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
After several days of landmarks,
neighbourhoods, transport and city views,
the journey ended where most of it had taken place:
inside Chongqing itself.
FOUR DAYS · TWENTY-SIX PERSPECTIVES
Four days is not long enough
to understand Chongqing completely.
But it was enough to experience several sides of it —
formal and informal,
old and new,
street-level and elevated,
quiet in one moment
and intensely urban in the next.
The itinerary was shared.
The memories were individual.
The journey belonged to all 26 of them.
